If what we saw of Sheila from the beginning, which couldn’t be that much later than the backstory we’re being given now, even if Finn is supposed to be her oldest child, it’s highly likely she had some of those unattractive attributes back then. Also what is with her claiming to know the exact night on which they conceived Finn. It’s far more likely that if Jack wasn’t willing to marry her, she didn’t want to be saddled with his kid and decided that giving Finn to Jack was a way to keep him indebted to her-baby Finn was just another object to be used to serve her best interests. He evidently knew then that Finn would be better off with himself and Li as parents, and I don’t buy that Sheila just gave Finn to them out of the goodness of her heart because Sheila doesn’t do anything out of the goodness of her heart.
